Flats renovation in Via Cairoli 8

The projects aims to reduce energy consumption by adding thermal insulation on the facade and modernising some parts of the residential building(including windows, elevator, heating plant, photovoltaic electricity and curtains). The project itself is 110% funded by the State of Italy thanks to the Superbonus 110% policy.

Via cairoli 8, Campi Bisenzio, Italy, existing flats

Our studio is involved both in the design phase and the site management of the project during which I was commissioned to design a new look of facade to the building. Looking from the exterior, the existing flats appeared brutalist: the facade shows straightly cement structure along the borders and it’s entirely finished in red mortar. In order to get rid of the sense of heavyness the building conveys, we decide to apply the color of white and grey after discussion with flats administrator. During realization these colours are applied on curtains, windows and insulation panels as well. The choice of white colour as the dominant colour resulted in transforming the residential building more light and fascinating than before.
